About
Welcome to McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks, a culinary destination nestled in the heart of Pittsburgh at 301 Fifth Ave, where the vibrant coastal flavors meet the richness of prime steaks. This exquisite eatery is renowned for its commitment to quality and freshness. As a food reviewer for Menu Buzz, I was eager to dive into the sophisticated menu that the restaurant has to offer.
From the onset, guests are enveloped in an inviting ambiance. Candace Skiles shared her delightful anniversary experience, highlighting the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff, particularly her waitress Tamar. Such personalized service is a hallmark of McCormick & Schmick's, ensuring patrons feel celebrated and attended throughout their meal.
The food at McCormick & Schmick's stands out for its meticulous preparation and thoughtful ingredient pairings. A standout from a lunch visit was the crab cake appetizer—a dish that boasts pure lump crab, artfully combined with sweet corn and avocado. The combination offers a sensational burst of flavors that lingers pleasantly on the palate. Every bite was a testament to the kitchen's dedication to providing an exceptional seafood dining experience.
Another memorable dish noted by a guest was the crab cake sandwich, which was served on a soft brioche bun, enhancing the experience with its airy texture and rich flavor. To accompany it, the clever presentation of shoe-string fries in a wire basket added an element of fun to the meal. It's these little touches that make dining at McCormick & Schmick's unforgettable.
While the restaurant does feature an array of unique ingredients—an aspect that may challenge those who prefer traditional fare—the compliments about the food consistently shine through. As reflected by Sue McGuire’s experience, even the more adventurous dishes can impress. The cozy, intimate setting, paired with beautifully crafted meals, encourages guests to broaden their culinary horizons.
The service at McCormick & Schmick's is nothing short of exemplary. Reviewers have praised waitstaff like Courtney and Hannah for their genuine hospitality and extensive knowledge of the menu. Such interactions not only enhance the dining experience but also create lasting memories that draw guests back for second visits, as Linda Rymon and her companions can attest after enjoying delightful meals two days in a row.
In conclusion, McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks stands as a beacon of quality in Pittsburgh. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging in a remarkable meal, this restaurant promises a dining experience characterized by fantastic flavors, elegant presentations, and outstanding service. I highly recommend you make a reservation soon to explore their exquisite menu yourself.
“ Very pleasant romantic dimmed setting. Kirk served me at the table with fantastic and on-time service. Steak and mashed potatoes were perfectly cooked. Thank you! ”
“ We came to eat today (9/18) for my friends bday dinner. There was 10 of us and they were very accommodating. Our server Hannah was the best server and all the way around a genuine good person.. and they personalized the menus and she took lots of pics for us and made sure we had our cake to go. ”
“ We were in Pittsburgh for a few days, sightseeing. We went here for dinner on our third night. Steve, was our waiter. He was wonderful, engaging and funny, but kept his distance. He was training another man, who was also very nice. The food was excellent, so much so, that we went again the next day! The filet was perfect. Muscles fresh and plump! Hannah was our waitress, she was also excellent. ”
“ My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at McCormick & Schmick’s on Sunday evening. From the moment we entered the restaurant, we had a great experience. Our waitress, Tamar, was very welcoming and informative about the menu, special items, and beverage selections. She was very attentive to our needs throughout the meal and brought us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. Great food and great service! ”
“ First and foremost, I had the best dining experience as I went in for my birthday. The service and food is top notch! I had not been for a while so I decided to stop in for lunch, and was very pleased all the way around. I sat at the bar and Courtney was my server. As soon as she saw me walk in, she had immediately picked up a menu because she saw that I was walking towards the bar to be seated. She came over introduced herself with an upbeat personality. I had asked about a few of the menu items as I already knew what I was going to get, but I wanted her feedback. She was very knowledgeable and thorough with the menu items, so I proceeded to order the crab cake appetizer which was outstanding. Pure lump crab well proportioned and the taste was impeccable with the sweet corn and avocado. It was a great way to start meal. I then ordered the crab cake sandwich as I’m a lover of crabmeat. Again, I enjoyed it very much. It was served on a soft brioche bun, the homemade sauce was on the side and it also had a great taste. It was served with shoe-string fries(which I love)in this little wire fry basket which I think is very clever. My meal was very filling. When I was finished, I wanted speak to the manager because I love to give good feedback when I have a great experience. The manager Kat came over and I let her know how pleased I was from beginning to end. She came over right away and was professional. ”
“ My husband and I had reservations for our anniversary. We ended up arriving in town earlier than expected and I was able to update my reservation quickly so that we wouldn’t have to wait. We were greeted enthusiastically and taken to our table. The restaurant itself is dark and there are dimly lit lights at each table. It was a little difficult seeing the menu with how dark it was but only a minor inconvenience. The food was very good, but many of the dishes were prepared (according to the menu) with odd ingredients. So if you like basic cuisine you will have limited choices here. I’m usually picky but I liked everything I tried. The only reason I gave a 4 star review for the atmosphere was the darkness of the room and for the food was the limited choices of traditionally prepared cuisine (and they were out of the chef’s choice, which is what my husband wanted to order). Other than that it was great. ”
